They are the same thing. LiftMaster changed the model number from 811LM to 811LMX.

It would be programmed to the radio receiver you have in your garage door opener. They are not too difficult to program. You want to make sure you have the 850LM, which is the compatible radio receiver. Please note, we currently do not ship to Canada.
